TPC Sawgrass in Florida is home to The Players Championship, and one of the most iconic holes in golf, the par 3 17th with its ‘island green’ (technically, a peninsula). It was built in 1980, and actually has two courses, with the Stadium Course including TPC’s signature stands, built on raised mounds of grass. It’s estimated that 100,000 balls are retrieved from the water surrounding the 17th green, every year.
